Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has dismissed Deputy Minister of Local Government Administration, Arbër Vokrri, following controversial statements made by Vokrri regarding the role of international diplomats in tensions in the north of the country.
The government announced the decision today, emphasizing that Vokrri’s comments do not reflect the official stance of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
“Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has today dismissed Arbër Vokrri from his position as Deputy Minister of Local Government Administration.
This decision follows Vokrri’s statements claiming that international diplomats and representatives of international institutions — notably naming EU Office Chief in Kosovo, Ambassador Aivo Orav — have, through their actions, fueled unrest in northern Kosovo,”
the official statement reads.
Vokrri’s remarks triggered backlash, particularly due to their potential diplomatic repercussions, as he publicly accused key EU representatives of contributing to instability in a sensitive and volatile region.
This dismissal highlights the government’s intent to distance itself from inflammatory rhetoric and maintain constructive relations with international partners, especially amid ongoing efforts for normalization and dialogue in northern Kosovo.
