The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo announced that citizens living abroad can participate in the upcoming elections at diplomatic missions even if their ID documents are expired. This includes identity cards, passports, or driver’s licenses.
“Citizens of the Republic of Kosovo living abroad who are successfully registered for voting at diplomatic missions may vote with an ID card, passport, or driver’s license of Kosovo—even if expired, according to the CEC decision. Your vote matters. Participate!” the CEC statement reads.
Voting logistics:
- Voting will take place on December 27 at 16 embassies and 13 consulates across 18 countries.
- Out of 77,086 registered voters abroad, 19,187 have chosen physical voting at these 29 missions.
- Election materials have already been delivered and are ready for voters.
The CEC also confirmed that postal voting, which began about two weeks ago, will conclude simultaneously with diplomatic voting. All ballots from diplomatic missions and postal voting will be sent to Kosovo for counting.
“Before election day in Kosovo, postal voting for approximately 57,899 registered voters will also be completed. Voters have had 12 days to send their ballots received from the CEC to the designated mailboxes in 23 countries, including Kosovo. Votes from both diplomatic missions and postal voting will be collected and counted in Kosovo,” said CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi.
