Kosovo CEC Appoints Members for Diplomatic Polling Stations in 19 Countries

For the first time in Kosovo’s history, voting will be conducted in diplomatic missions abroad, with the Central Election Commission (CEC) appointing 414 members to oversee the polling process on February 8, 2025, a day before the general elections in Kosovo.

This historic move enables Kosovo citizens living abroad to cast their votes in 19 countries, including several in Europe, as well as the United States, Canada, and Australia. According to Valmir Elezi, CEC spokesperson, the appointments include 230 primary members—with 184 representing political entities and 46 from diplomatic missions—and 184 reserve members.

Key Details:

  • Composition of Polling Councils: Each council will consist of five members: four representing political entities and one representing the diplomatic mission.
  • Locations: Voting will take place at 46 polling stations spread across 17 embassies and 15 consulates.
  • Voter Registration: Out of 104,924 registered voters abroad, 20,399 will vote in person at diplomatic missions, while approximately 85,000 will vote by mail.

Voting in diplomatic missions will follow strict guidelines outlined by the Law on General Elections to ensure transparency and integrity.
