The German Embassy in Kosovo has reacted to the publication of the World Press Freedom Index by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), in which Kosovo experienced a significant decline of 24 places, ranking 99th out of 180 countries.
In a statement, the Embassy emphasized that this regression must be taken seriously by institutions and should serve as a roadmap for improving the media landscape in the country.
“Kosovo has fallen by 24 places in the latest RSF Press Freedom Index, placing it at the bottom of regional comparisons – even behind Serbia. The report should be read as a to-do list for the new government, clearly outlining the steps needed to ensure a free press, which is essential for any vibrant and resilient democracy,” the Embassy stated.
