The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo has officially opened the period for citizens to challenge inaccuracies in the Preliminary Voter List ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7, 2026.
The correction window began today, May 6, and will remain open for 13 days, concluding on May 18, 2026. This process is critical for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the electoral roll.
Key Correction Actions
Eligible voters are encouraged to review the list and take action if they encounter the following issues:
- Missing Names: If a person with the right to vote does not appear on the list.
- Incorrect Polling Centers: If a voter has been assigned to the wrong voting location.
- Data Errors: If personal information is recorded incorrectly.
- Deceased Persons: Citizens can challenge the inclusion of names that should no longer be on the list, such as those of deceased individuals.
How to Request a Review
The CEC has provided both digital and physical methods for addressing inaccuracies:
- Online Platform: Voters can verify and request changes through the official electronic portal: https://qv.kqz-ks.org.
- In-Person: Requests can be filed at the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) in the voter’s respective municipality.
- Appeals Panel: For complaints regarding the removal of unauthorized names (including deceased persons), formal appeals must be submitted to the Elections Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP).
Identification Requirements
To verify their identity while contesting an inaccuracy, citizens must present one of the following valid documents:
- Valid ID Card
- Valid Passport
- Valid Driver’s License
Broader Election Context
This announcement follows several major decisions by the CEC as Kosovo prepares for its third election in roughly 18 months due to ongoing political shifts. Just yesterday, the CEC set the campaign spending limit for political parties at €2,092,202 (calculated at €1 per voter). Additionally, the registration period for diaspora voters living outside Kosovo has also begun, running until May 17.
