During Kosovo’s local elections, eight incidents have been reported, but none involved criminal offenses, confirmed National Election Coordinator and Prosecutor Laura Pula.

She stated that no one has been arrested for voter misuse or election-related crimes up to midday.

Pula explained that around 100 prosecutors and supporting staff are deployed across all municipalities to ensure free and fair voting. She highlighted that the prosecutor’s role in elections has been effective since 2013, helping to prevent manipulation and protect citizens’ voting rights.

Reported incidents were verified and did not constitute criminal activity. Even cases involving photographed ballots were investigated, but no illegal intent was found.

Pula also clarified that election-day incidents are categorized into three groups:

  1. Administrative violations not under the State Prosecutor’s jurisdiction.
  2. Minor offenses handled by the police.
  3. Criminal offenses, which would be prosecuted by the State Prosecutor if verified.

So far, none of the reported incidents have met the criteria for criminal offenses, and no arrests related to election misuse have been made.

Acting Chief Prosecutor Besim Kelmendi visited the Election Monitoring Operational Room at the State Prosecutor’s Office, where he met with Laura Pula to discuss election oversight.
