Ahead of Kosovo’s parliamentary elections, security forces are on high alert to ensure a peaceful voting process. In preparation, a joint training exercise was held at KFOR’s camp in Novosellë ten days ago, involving EULEX’s Specialized Unit and Kosovo Police’s Reserve Specialized Unit. The drills included medical evacuation procedures and riot control tactics.
A high-level meeting was held at the Kosovo Police Directorate yesterday, attended by representatives from KFOR, EULEX, the OSCE, the U.S. Embassy, and the EU Office in Kosovo. Discussions focused on maintaining a calm and secure atmosphere so that all citizens can freely exercise their right to vote.
Deputy Police Director for the northern region, Veton Elshani, stated that an operational plan has been put in place for election day, covering both Kosovo as a whole and the northern region in particular.
“Polling stations have been designated by the Central Election Commission (KQZ), and we are monitoring them closely. We are ready to intervene at any time if necessary. The situation remains calm,” Elshani confirmed.
