Kosovo Embassy Refutes Claims About Incident Involving President Vjosa Osmani at Skopje Airport

The Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Skopje has issued a statement following an incident involving President Vjosa Osmani at Skopje Airport two days ago.

Through a post on “X,” the Kosovo Embassy in Skopje denied several reports that have circulated on portals in North Macedonia.

“The Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Skopje strongly denies the news on some North Macedonian portals that it has commented on the incident at Skopje Airport and supposedly confirmed that this is the first note sent to the authorities,” the statement read, further adding that the information is inaccurate.

The Embassy calls for its name not to be misused and for the unprecedented and illegal incident involving the President not to be exploited for domestic political purposes in North Macedonia.

President Vjosa Osmani faced an uncomfortable situation on Thursday at Skopje Airport, where, according to the Presidency, a security officer attempted to take her personal phone to put it through a scanner.

The Presidency of Kosovo has issued clarifications regarding the situation at the airport, reminding that when heads of state travel, they are protected by diplomatic privileges and immunities.
