Acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, announced today that the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRrE) has confirmed the presence of six active energy suppliers in Kosovo’s liberalized energy market, with five already submitting offers for business consumers.
This update comes amid ongoing protests by businesses demanding more time to adapt to the open energy market. To address their concerns, Rizvanolli met on Wednesday with local energy producers and economic chambers to provide businesses with essential information and tools needed to navigate the newly liberalized market effectively.
According to Rizvanolli’s statement on Facebook, the interest from regional companies continues to grow, as reflected by the increase in energy supply licenses to 21. During the meeting, SharrCem — a company that has operated in the open market since 2017 — shared valuable insights from its experience. Meanwhile, the Kosovo Energy Corporation clarified the legal framework regarding the “supplier of last resort” role, intended to assist consumers who have yet to secure contracts.
Minister Rizvanolli reaffirmed the government’s commitment to standing alongside businesses by offering practical support, aiming to ensure that companies make informed decisions and are not left vulnerable during this transition.
She also announced that the next meeting will involve energy suppliers directly to promote transparency and foster favorable conditions for all stakeholders in the market.
