The Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) of Kosovo has isolated 15 kilograms of Buffalo Mozzarella cheese, produced from buffalo milk originating in Italy, due to suspected contamination with aflatoxin M1.
The product was imported by Premio SHPK in Sllatina e Madhe and manufactured by Caseificio Coop “La Contadina” in Italy.
In an official statement, the AUV confirmed that, in the presence of its officials and relevant parties, the product was seized in accordance with existing food safety legislation. The agency said the destruction process of the contaminated cheese will begin shortly.
The move aims to protect public health and ensure compliance with food quality standards.
Despite facing a shortage of inspectors, the AUV remains committed to continuous monitoring of the food market and supply chain. Preventive and control measures continue to ensure that consumers in Kosovo have access to safe and healthy food.
