Kosovo’s acting government today allocated €580,000 for the construction of a music school and museum in Preshevo. This decision underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the Albanian community in Preshevo Valley.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that his government has been dedicated from the outset to continuously improving the well-being of citizens in Preshevo, Medveđa, and Bujanovac. “We are continuing this institutional and political financial support for the Valley today with the allocation of €580,000 for the Preshevo music school and museum,” Kurti affirmed.
Acting Minister of Culture Hajrulla Çeku highlighted that this project represents a valuable asset with multiple educational, artistic, and identity-related benefits for Albanians in the Preshevo Valley. “This request is based on an agreement between the Government and the Albanian National Council in the Valley and foresees a budgetary support of €580,000 for which co-financing of the project in question is planned. This project represents one of the most important investments for the cultural life of Albanians in the Preševo Valley and presents an asset with multi-faceted educational, artistic, and identity value,” Çeku explained.
Additional Approvals: Water Security and Non-Majority Employment
During the same meeting, the government also approved a grant agreement between Kosovo and the International Development Association for the preparation of a project promoting and enabling water security opportunities (phase two).
Acting Minister of Finance Hekuran Murati noted that thanks to strong cooperation with the World Bank, a grant sum of one million dollars has been made available. This will be financed through a combination of additions from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and an allocation from an international development association, structured into two separate financing lines.
Furthermore, budgetary funds were approved for the Ministry for Communities and Return to implement employment support measures for individuals from non-majority communities, as part of the economic revitalization package.
