During a government session, the Kosovo Cabinet approved the draft law establishing the State Bureau for Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti described the draft law as a decisive step in strengthening the rule of law and combating corruption in Kosovo.

“It establishes an effective mechanism to investigate and confiscate assets that cannot be justified through legal sources, directly targeting those who have enriched themselves at the expense of citizens. Through this law, we send a clear message that no one is above the law and that accountability will be unavoidable. Full and impartial implementation remains a government priority to ensure justice and equality for all,” Kurti stated.

Justice Minister Donika Gërvalla emphasized that the draft law promotes fairness, justice, and increased public trust in state institutions.

“The draft law incorporates three opinions from the Venice Commission and two rulings from the Constitutional Court. These recommendations have been reflected in the text, which was developed in close collaboration with local and international field experts, institutional representatives, and international partners, including technical consultations and comparative analyses to ensure that the provisions are enforceable, proportionate, and constitutionally compliant,” Gërvalla said.

Following the parliamentary vote, the draft law was successfully adopted.
