With participation from around 60 countries, represented by ministers, deputy ministers, state secretaries, and key global leaders in the agriculture sector, the Republic of Kosovo took part in the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) held in Berlin, Germany.
Acting Minister Imri Delemezi announced this through a post on his Facebook account.
He highlighted that during this forum, within the Technical Group for Regional and Rural Development of Southeastern Europe, Kosovo led the meeting of agriculture ministers of the region for the first time, demonstrating its increasingly active and valued role in regional cooperation and European integration processes.
“As the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development, in my remarks I emphasized that the Republic of Kosovo is committed to meeting the criteria for European Union integration through continuous reforms, aligning policies and legislation with EU standards, and building a modern and sustainable agricultural sector that meets the needs of our society,” Delemezi stated.
He further noted that during three intensive days, alongside the delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development, dozens of bilateral meetings and side discussions were held with strategic partners, including agriculture ministers from Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary, as well as the World Bank, the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Discussions focused on food security investments, irrigation and infrastructure, productivity and competitiveness, veterinary standards, protection against weather events, digitalization of agriculture, human resources, and alignment with EU policies.
“Once again, the Republic of Kosovo confirmed its commitment to reforms and international cooperation, proving itself as a reliable regional and European partner for development, investment, and food security. Kosovo thanks friendly countries, including Germany, which through the GFFA allows for positive recognition and promotion of Kosovo during and through such conferences,” he added.
The German Embassy in Kosovo also stated that Kosovo was represented by outgoing Minister Imri Delemezi, who met with the German Federal Minister of Agriculture, Food, and Community, Alois Rainer.
According to the announcement, the meeting focused on: alignment with the EU Acquis, concrete action plans for sustainable agriculture and forestry, and the expansion of trade and economic cooperation.
