Amid the high-level gatherings of the European Political Community Summit, President Vjosa Osmani of Kosovo held an important meeting with Prime Minister Robert Abela of Malta, focusing on Kosovo’s bid for membership in the Council of Europe (CoE).
The meeting, which took place in Tirana, was described by President Osmani as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen dialogue on shared challenges and regional cooperation.
“An excellent discussion with Prime Minister of Malta, Robert Abela, on strengthening the partnership between Kosovo and Malta, shared challenges, and opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation,” Osmani stated.
Council of Europe Membership at the Center of Talks
A central topic of the meeting was Kosovo’s application to the Council of Europe, a key milestone in the country’s European integration path. President Osmani emphasized the strategic importance of this application during Malta’s current presidency of the Council of Europe.
“I stressed the importance of advancing Kosovo’s application during Malta’s Presidency of the Council of Europe, as a step that would reinforce European values and the unity of the continent,” Osmani affirmed.

This diplomatic encounter underscores Kosovo’s continued push for greater international recognition and inclusion in European institutions, while also highlighting Malta’s potential role as an ally in supporting that journey.
