The Kosovo Manufacturers’ Association, part of the Kosovo Business Alliance, has expressed deep concern over the planned interruption of electricity supply to businesses, set to begin on August 16.
In a statement, the association urged the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE) not to implement power cuts for businesses as scheduled.
They warned that such interruptions could have severe consequences, including:
- Disruption of production,
- Job losses,
- Increased consumer prices,
- Damage to contracts with international partners, and
- Reduced competitiveness of Kosovo manufacturers in foreign markets.
The association emphasized that they support energy market liberalization but insist it should be carried out transparently, with proper consultations, and at reasonable prices comparable to the regional market.
They called on ZRRE to find a sustainable solution that protects local production and Kosovo’s economy.
