Kosovo Marks 18 Years Since the Passing of Faruk Begolli

Today marks 18 years since the death of Faruk Begolli, one of the most distinguished figures of Kosovo’s theater and cinematography. An actor, professor, and cultural contributor, Begolli left an enduring legacy in both the stage and film industry of the Albanian arts.

Begolli graduated in 1966 from the Academy of Film and Theater in Belgrade, and went on to become a co-founder of the Acting Department at the Faculty of Arts, University of Pristina, as well as the Dodona Theater.

Throughout his career, he played in over 60 significant Yugoslav and Albanian films, including classics such as “Dervishi dhe vdekja” (The Dervish and Death), “Kur pranvera vonohet” (When Spring is Delayed), “Era dhe Lisi” (The Wind and the Oak), and “Proka”.

Begolli passed away on August 23, 2007, but his artistic and educational contributions continue to inspire generations and remain deeply rooted in the collective memory of Albanian culture.
