Kosovo is commemorating the 27th anniversary of the Battle of Koshare, one of the most significant military confrontations of the Kosovo Liberation Army during the 1998–1999 war.
On April 9, 1999, fighters of the Kosovo Liberation Army, led by the 138th Brigade “Agim Ramadani,” succeeded in breaking through the border between Kosovo and Albania. This breakthrough opened a crucial supply route for weapons and logistical support.
The battle continued until June 10, 1999, unfolding under extremely difficult conditions. Despite this, KLA fighters demonstrated strong determination in their efforts against Serbian forces.
The breach of the border carried both strategic and symbolic importance, marking a key step toward the liberation of Kosovo and becoming one of the defining moments of the conflict.
