Media lawyer Flutura Kusari has proposed that Kosovo legally ban the use of social media for children under the age of 16, following the examples of countries like France, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
“In Kosovo, just like in France, Australia, and the UK, social media use by children under 16 should be prohibited by law,” Kusari stated, stressing the importance of protecting minors from the negative effects of online platforms.
Other countries implementing or considering similar regulations include Germany, Italy, and Spain, which have introduced stricter age limits and parental consent requirements to ensure a safer digital environment for children.
This proposal comes amid growing global concerns about the impact of social media on mental health, online safety, and child development.
