Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, welcomed the news that the Republic of Sudan has officially recognized Kosovo’s independence, calling it a significant step toward strengthening the country’s international standing.

“The Republic of Kosovo today marked another important moment on its international journey — recognition by Sudan. This recognition comes just weeks after the positive news from Kenya, further reinforcing Kosovo’s presence and international subjectivity in Africa and beyond,” Gërvalla wrote in a social media post.

Gërvalla expressed her gratitude to Sudanese authorities for their decision and thanked President Vjosa Osmani for her commitment to the process. She also acknowledged the support of international partners who contributed to this diplomatic achievement.

“We look forward to building sustainable diplomatic relations and concrete cooperation with Sudan in areas of mutual interest,” Gërvalla concluded.

With Sudan’s decision, Kosovo now counts 119 countries recognizing its independence.
