The Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOK) has expressed deep concern and outrage over the unacceptable action of removing the flag of the Republic of Kosovo from the UEFA Congress venue in Belgrade, Serbia, according to Rks News.
The KOK strongly condemned the act of burning the Kosovo flag by hooligans following its removal, calling it a direct attack on Kosovo’s state symbols and the fundamental values of sports.
“Even more alarming and disgraceful is the fact that the flag, which was placed among the flags of other nations, ended up in the hands of hooligans, who then burned it in front of the Congress venue. This act is a direct assault not only on Kosovo’s state symbols but also on the core values of sport: respect, equality, and inclusion. The KOK is seeking clarification from the event organizer, UEFA, regarding the removal and burning of the flag, and we also demand action from the host of the Congress, who, according to published footage, was involved in the act of removing the flag,” stated the KOK in their official announcement.
