The Assembly of Kosovo reconvened today to continue the extraordinary session interrupted last Friday, focusing on the first reading of the Budget Law for 2026.

With 66 votes in favor, the Assembly approved the 2026 Budget Bill in its first reading. 32 deputies voted against the proposal, while five abstained. A total of 103 deputies were present during the session.

The proposed budget is valued at €4 billion and will need approval in a second reading before coming into force as law.

The bill had originally been scheduled for discussion last Friday. However, the ruling party, Lëvizja Vetëvendosje, did not manage to secure the necessary deadlines to review it in principle at that time.

The Kosovo Parliament emphasized that the 2026 budget will fund key areas including public services, infrastructure, and social programs, as part of efforts to maintain economic stability and development.
