Tomorrow at 11:00 AM, the Assembly of Kosovo will convene for the 36th time in an attempt to elect its Speaker and formally constitute the Parliament, following weeks of institutional deadlock.
Previous sessions have failed due to the lack of sufficient votes needed to form the Commission for Secret Voting, a procedural requirement to elect the Speaker.
Chair of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari, has once again urged political parties—notably PDK, LDK, Lista Serbe, AAK, and NISMA—to submit their nominations for the electoral commission. So far, none of them have done so.
In the most recent session, only 51 deputies voted in favor of forming the commission, one voted against, and there were no abstentions—still falling short of the simple majority needed to proceed.
The political impasse raises serious concerns about the functioning of democracy and governance in Kosovo, as key legislative and governmental processes remain paralyzed until the Speaker is elected.
