Prishtina | 09 Dec 2025 – Kosovo Assembly Speaker Dimal Basha welcomed German Ambassador Reiner Rudolph in his first official meeting, discussing the political situation in Kosovo and the country’s path toward international integration.

During the meeting, Speaker Basha emphasized that Kosovo has met all conditions to join the Council of Europe and that its application for candidate status should now be approved, highlighting that the country has fulfilled all the institution’s criteria.

Basha described the measures imposed on Kosovo as unjust and called for their immediate removal, noting the importance of Germany’s continued support for Kosovo’s European Union integration process.

The discussion also covered Kosovo’s recent local elections, with Basha stressing that Kosovo serves as a regional example of democracy and peaceful power transition. Both leaders highlighted the importance of inclusive participation for all communities in Kosovo across social and political spheres.

Regarding the wider region, Basha remarked that the normalization and democratization of Serbia is crucial for regional stability and development, as its dismissive stance toward realities on the ground remains a key source of current problems in Kosovo and the Balkans.

Speaker Basha concluded by thanking Germany for its support, recognizing it as a vital partner in Kosovo’s journey toward EU integration.
