President Vjosa Osmani will meet on Friday with parliamentary party leaders following the failure to form a new government, reports KosovaPress.

Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV) confirmed their participation but did not clarify whether they would propose a prime ministerial candidate again after Albin Kurti failed last week to secure enough votes to form the new executive.

Albulena Haxhiu, member of the LVV Presidency, explained that the collection of signatures from party deputies was not related to nominating a prime minister, but solely for the formation of the LVV Parliamentary Group. She added that the Kurti III government will eventually be formed, noting that its failure so far is only temporary.

Last Sunday, Kurti, the former prime ministerial candidate, failed to form a government, receiving only 56 votes out of the required 61.

PDK Secretary Vlora Çitaku also confirmed her party’s attendance, though she criticized the president’s invitation as delayed. Çitaku emphasized that political leaders need to agree on which party has a parliamentary majority, otherwise Kosovo should proceed to new elections.

Regarding the possibility of forming a temporary or technical government to approve the 2026 budget and certain international agreements, Haxhiu stated that LVV does not support such a solution. She stressed that if a new parliamentary majority cannot be formed, the country should hold early elections.

Çitaku added that the formation of a temporary technical government could still be discussed by political leaders during Friday’s meeting with President Osmani.
