Political parties represented in the Assembly of Kosovo have confirmed their participation in the meeting called by caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti, scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 PM.
The meeting comes after the Constitutional Court ruled on Thursday that the constitutive session of the ninth legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo must conclude within 30 days. Kurti, as head of the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) and the largest parliamentary group, announced the invitation, emphasizing that the Court’s judgment clearly states the obligation to constitute the Assembly rests with all deputies, not just the leading party.
Party Confirmations
Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK): Deputy Hykmete Bajrami confirmed LDK’s participation, despite what she called a “lack of cooperation from Vetëvendosje,” viewing the meeting as more for a “media show.” LDK spokesperson Besian Mustafa did not specify if party leader Abdixhiku would attend personally.
Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK): PDK Deputy Përparim Gruda confirmed that party leader Memli Krasniqi will represent PDK at the meeting and convey the party’s stances.
Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK): AAK also confirmed attendance, though party leader Ramush Haradinaj will not be present. Instead, Deputy Time Kadriaj will represent the party.
Social Democratic Initiative – NISMA: Leader Fatmir Limaj confirmed NISMA’s participation, stating simply, “Of course, yes.”
Context of the Meeting
Kurti’s invitation is a direct response to the Constitutional Court’s ruling, which highlighted the collective responsibility of all deputies to constitute the Assembly. Today, deputies agreed to postpone the constitutive session to Sunday, June 29, anticipating the outcome of tomorrow’s political leaders’ meeting. This collective effort aims to build consensus for the Assembly’s constitution following the ongoing deadlock.
