The Kosovo Police, in close coordination with the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, have carried out a search at the property of M.J., one of the suspects arrested on 28 July 2026 on suspicion of war crimes against the civilian population committed in Mitrovica in 1999.

According to the joint statement, the search was conducted under an order issued by the Basic Court as part of the ongoing investigation into M.J. and M.B., who are suspected of violating Article 142 of the Criminal Code of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY).

During the search in Zubin Potok, investigators seized material evidence indicating that M.J. had been mobilized and served as an active member of the former Yugoslav Army during the war.

The Kosovo Police stated that the investigation remains ongoing and reaffirmed their commitment, in cooperation with the justice system, to thoroughly investigate and prosecute all criminal offenses, including war crimes.
