The Kosovo Police have discovered and seized several weapons and a significant amount of ammunition in an abandoned house in the municipality of Leposaviq, authorities confirmed on Thursday.

According to the police statement, the weapons were found in a deserted house located in the village of Jashanicë, during an operation carried out as part of ongoing security efforts in northern Kosovo.

During the search, officers confiscated multiple items, including:

  • One rifle
  • One Kalashnikov-type automatic weapon

The Kosovo Police stated that the State Prosecutor has been informed about the case, who instructed authorities to initiate a criminal investigation under the charge of “Unauthorized ownership, control, or possession of weapons.”

No arrests have been made so far, and the case remains under active investigation.

In its statement, the Kosovo Police also thanked citizens for their cooperation and encouraged the public to continue assisting law enforcement by reporting information that could help maintain public safety.

“The Kosovo Police invite citizens to report any information that may contribute to preserving public order and security by contacting the police at the emergency number 192,” the statement said.

Authorities have not yet indicated whether the weapons may be connected to any broader criminal or security-related activity in the region, but investigations are ongoing.
