The Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK) has launched an investigation following a complaint regarding the actions of police officers at the Municipal Vote Counting Center (QKN) in Mitrovica South.

According to the official statement, the complaint and related information were received yesterday evening, after which IPK investigators visited the site to verify claims that certain investigative actions were carried out without authorization from the competent prosecutor.

“IPK investigators have undertaken preliminary measures to verify whether police officials acted without the authorization of the prosecutor,” the statement read. It emphasized that all actions are being conducted under IPK’s legal authority while respecting the operational independence of the Kosovo Police.

Preliminary findings suggest that during the police response and entry into the Vote Counting Center, some procedures outlined in the Kosovo Police Operational Plan for the electoral process may not have been followed.

The IPK confirmed that the investigation will continue in full coordination with the State Prosecutor’s Office, including consultations with the Central Election Commission (CEC) to clarify all circumstances related to the incident.
