Kosovo Police, including all its branches, continued to successfully execute tasks outlined in the 2021-2025 Strategic Development Plan throughout 2024, while also fulfilling daily security responsibilities.
One of the key achievements this year was in the field of international police cooperation, carried out by the Directorate for International Police Cooperation (DBNP–ILECU). From January to November 2024, the Directorate delivered several significant results, which are summarized below:
International Information Exchange:
Through official communication channels, DBNP exchanged a total of 18,528 pieces of information with various countries worldwide, contributing to global law enforcement efforts.
International Extraditions:
A notable accomplishment this year was the completion of 80 international extraditions. Thirty individuals were extradited from Kosovo to other countries, in cooperation with INTERPOL and EUROPOL. Additionally, 50 people were arrested abroad and extradited to Kosovo, demonstrating strong international collaboration in the fight against crime.
Participation in International Operations under EMPACT:
Kosovo Police also actively participated in three joint operations under the EMPACT framework, supported by EUROPOL. These operations focused on combating arms trafficking, human trafficking, and smuggling of migrants, highlighting Kosovo’s commitment to global security efforts.
Moving forward, officers from the DBNP will continue to collaborate with international law enforcement organizations and partner countries to achieve security objectives, fight international crimes, and pursue the prosecution of individuals wanted on international warrants.
