The Director General of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, together with other senior officials, was invited to the U.S.–Mexico border to observe border security operations in real time at the Port of Entry in Laredo, in cooperation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other border officials.
The visit was organized with support from the U.S. Embassy in Prishtina through DOJ-ICITAP, according to the Kosovo Police.
“This historic visit marked the first time Kosovo Police officials have directly observed operational procedures at multiple U.S.–Mexico border crossings. The delegation highly appreciated the opportunity to learn firsthand about CBP’s sophisticated practices, border management strategies, use of modern technology, and coordinated law enforcement approaches employed at one of the busiest entry points into the United States,” the police statement said.
During the visit, Kosovo Police representatives observed real-time operations, including inspection procedures, risk-based control methods, and technology integration to strengthen border security while facilitating trade and legal travel.
“These experiences were highly valued in terms of practical knowledge and provide important lessons that can be adapted to enhance border security operations in Kosovo. The Kosovo Police highly appreciate the visit, and the knowledge and experience gained will contribute to future planning and capacity-building initiatives, including ongoing cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo to advance border security standards and increase operational effectiveness,” the statement added.
The Kosovo Police emphasized that this visit highlights the strong partnership between Kosovo and the United States and reflects a shared commitment to border security, innovation, and international cooperation.
