The Kosovo Police has announced in a press release that on December 20, they successfully prevented a case of smuggling in the municipality of Gjilan. The Kosovo Police states that this prevention follows an increase in border control measures between Kosovo and Serbia, specifically in the Gjilan and Kamenica areas.
On the Gjilan-Pristina road, a local truck was stopped driven by M.S., a 40-year-old from Lipjan. During the inspection, the Kosovo Police discovered commercial goods smuggled from Serbia.
“On December 20, 2024, in the late hours, the above-mentioned units on the Gjilan-Pristina highway stopped a local truck with license plates, driven by M.S., a 40-year-old from Lipjan. During the inspection of the truck, commercial goods smuggled from Serbia were found, with several invoices issued from the country of origin of the goods (Serbia),” the statement reads.

The Kosovo Police, specifically the Task Force units – East, in cooperation with the Kosovo Customs, in fulfillment of their duties and the fight against smuggling, have intensified tactical controls and operations in the field along the border zone between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia, particularly in the areas bordering the municipalities of Kamenica and Gjilan.
On December 20, 2024, in the late hours, the above-mentioned units on the Gjilan-Pristina highway stopped a local truck driven by M.S., a 40-year-old from Lipjan. During the inspection of the truck, commercial goods smuggled from Serbia were found, with several invoices issued from the country of origin of the goods (Serbia).
The goods were seized and transferred to the customs terminal for further processing of the case by Kosovo Customs.
