Kosovo Police conducted a raid on the home of Serbian national A.M., who, together with her partner, J.I., a Croatian Air Force member, was arrested in Croatia on charges of spying for Serbia.

Deputy Director of Kosovo Police for the Northern Region, Veton Elshani, told Radio Free Europe that the raid took place on 27 August at around 20:00, following reports of A.M.’s arrest in Croatia.

“We verified the suspect’s address in North Mitrovica. Acting on information that weapons could be present, we entered and searched the house, finding a spray, several bullets, and cartridges, and then left the premises,” said Elshani.

Kosovo authorities are reportedly in close coordination with Croatian officials regarding the case. On 28 August, the Split County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the suspects were placed in pretrial detention.

According to Croatian media, J.I., who served in Kosovo under the NATO peacekeeping mission (KFOR), allegedly provided confidential information to his partner, which she then reportedly passed on to members of Serb List, the main Serbian political party in Kosovo backed by official Belgrade.

NATO has stated that it takes these allegations seriously, emphasizing that the security of KFOR personnel and the integrity of classified information are top priorities.

Radio Free Europe also reached out to the Croatian Ministry of Defense, which referred inquiries to the Split County Prosecutor’s Office regarding the pretrial detention. Some Croatian media speculated that EUROPOL was involved in the investigation; however, a spokesperson confirmed that EUROPOL has not participated in this case.

Following the arrests, the Kosovo caretaker government expressed readiness to cooperate with Croatian authorities, as the alleged activities took place in Kosovo.

Meanwhile, Serb List deputy Igor Simiq denied any knowledge of A.M., stating that neither he nor any other party member has any connection with the suspect.
