Kosovo Police Seize Large Cache of Weapons and Ammunition in Zveçan, One Arrested

Kosovo Police have confiscated a substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition during an operation in the northern Mitrovica region, authorities reported on Thursday.

During a raid in the Korile neighborhood of Zveçan, officers recovered:

  • Two magazines for long guns
  • 49 electric detonators
  • A knife and a long gun holster
  • One cartridge marked PPU 8×75 IS
  • A slow-burning fuse with a mechanical detonator
  • Six electric detonators (four new)
  • Two packages of shot for reloading hunting cartridges
  • A reloading machine and additional parts for long guns
  • Trigger wires and a disassembled long gun (serial number K-414675) with two magazines and 60 rounds of 7.62×39 ammunition
  • 35 sealed boxes of “IK 89” ammunition (525 rounds of 7.62×39)
  • 59 rounds marked “E”
  • 65 rounds for long guns marked “IK 89”
  • 50 PPU 9mm Luger rounds
  • Two empty magazines for long guns
  • Detonation measurement devices and a bayonet

One individual was arrested in connection with the raid. The suspect, identified as S.G., 73, has been detained for 48 hours and faces charges of unauthorized possession, control, or ownership of firearms.

In a separate raid on Prote Stojana Street in Zvečan, police seized:

  • One hunting rifle
  • 12 hunting cartridges
  • 15 assorted caliber shells
  • Two packages of shot for hunting cartridges
  • One cartridge belt

No arrests were made in the second operation, but authorities have identified a suspect for questioning.

Kosovo Police urged all citizens to comply with firearm regulations and obtain valid permits, warning that similar operations will continue in northern Mitrovica.
