Kosovo Police Seize Three Firearms in South Mitrovica During First Days of 2026

The Kosovo Police in the South Mitrovica region have announced that they seized three firearms during the first three days of 2026, as part of ongoing security operations.

According to the police statement, the weapons were confiscated at separate locations in South Mitrovica and Skenderaj, following targeted field actions.

The seized items include:

  • Two hunting rifles
  • One handgun
  • 159 rounds of ammunition of various calibers

In connection with the confiscated weapons, criminal cases have been initiated for offenses including illegal possession of weapons, use of firearms, and threats.

As a result of these investigations, two suspects have been placed in police detention, following a decision by the prosecutor’s office.

The Kosovo Police said the actions are part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and prevent illegal weapons possession in the region.
