On the occasion of Christmas, Bishop of the Prizren-Prishtina Diocese, Dodë Gjergji, organized a solemn reception attended by Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani.

During his speech, Bishop Gjergji emphasized that every society today needs peace, love, and understanding.

“Christmas is our celebration. Christ, the King of Peace, is for everyone. Every individual, every family, and every society in this world needs peace and love the most today, along with understanding and joy in their hearts. Christ is the light that illuminates not only the darkness of the festive night but also our thoughts and experiences that shape our lives. Let Christ’s light shine in everyone’s heart. Together, let us pray on this holy night for each and every one of us, across all faiths,” said Dodë Gjergji.

President Vjosa Osmani highlighted the importance of following the example of the great Albanian humanitarian, Saint Mother Teresa, in showing solidarity with those in need.

She shared details of her recent visit to the Vatican, where she met Pope Leo XIV and discussed Kosovo’s role as a country fostering peace and interfaith harmony.

Osmani emphasized that Kosovo remains committed to strengthening its relations with the Holy See and advancing their historical friendship.

“Beyond the lights that shine and symbolize hope, we reflect on generosity, solidarity, and our unity as a nation and society. Christmas inspires us to remember that even in the face of challenges, hope must prevail. Following Saint Teresa’s example, let us care not only tonight but throughout the coming year for those who seek our help and need human warmth. I had the honor of a private audience with Pope Leo XIV,” said Osmani.

“During this meeting, I conveyed my heartfelt congratulations for the beginning of his mission and warmly invited him to visit Kosovo. We also discussed Kosovo’s role as a land of peace and interfaith harmony, shaped by our historical experience of resilience, sacrifice, and survival. Kosovo remains committed to strengthening relations with the Holy See and advancing our historical friendship, guided by values that unite us: peace, human dignity, solidarity, and respect,” she added.
