The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, along with the First Gentleman, Prindon Sadriu, has embarked on an official state visit to Switzerland, at the invitation of the Swiss Federal Council, led by President Karin Keller-Sutter. This marks the first-ever state visit by a head of state from Kosovo to Switzerland.
This visit takes place within the context of strong diplomatic relations between the two countries and aims to further deepen bilateral cooperation.
State visits represent the highest level of diplomatic engagement, making this occasion a historic milestone in Kosovo-Switzerland relations.
The official reception will be held at Lohn Estate, where President Osmani and First Gentleman Sadriu will be greeted with full state honors by President Keller-Sutter and her husband, First Gentleman Morten Keller, followed by a working luncheon.
Later, a military honor ceremony will take place at Bundesplatz, the central square in Bern. The event will include a public greeting where both Presidents will address and meet Swiss citizens, emphasizing the symbolic friendship between the two nations.
The program continues with a state ceremony in the Swiss Parliament, where President Osmani will deliver a special address before representatives of the Swiss institutions. She is also scheduled to hold separate meetings with key leaders of the Swiss federal institutions.
In St. Gallen, President Osmani and President Keller-Sutter will visit the SQUARE Innovation Center at the University of St. Gallen, showcasing cooperation in education and innovation.
In Geneva, President Osmani will participate in an event honoring the political legacy of Martti Ahtisaari. The event is co-organized by the Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, the Permanent Mission of Finland in Geneva, Interpeace, and the Geneva Graduate Institute.
During her stay in Geneva, President Osmani will also meet with members of the Albanian diaspora, highlighting Kosovo’s continued bond with its citizens abroad.
