The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has received an invitation from members of the United States Congress (Senate and House of Representatives) to attend the inauguration of the new American President, Donald Trump.

However, the Presidency of Kosovo has announced that, in line with diplomatic protocol, most countries are represented at such events by their ambassadors accredited in Washington, D.C. Therefore, President Osmani has decided to send a delegation from her cabinet, which, together with the Ambassador to the U.S., Ilir Dugolli, will represent Kosovo at the inaugural events taking place from January 19-21, according to the online news outlet Reporteri.net.

“Considering this event as an important moment in the relations between Kosovo and the United States, the President has decided to send a delegation from her cabinet, which, along with Ambassador Ilir Dugolli, will represent Kosovo at the inauguration activities from January 19-21,” stated Bekim Kupina, media advisor to President Osmani.

President Osmani has already had the opportunity to personally congratulate President Trump during a substantive conversation held last month at the Elysee Palace in Paris. This ongoing engagement reflects Kosovo’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the new U.S. administration and advancing shared interests.

The inauguration will take place in Washington, D.C., marking the peaceful transition of power from President Biden to Trump, who is returning to the White House for a second term after a break in which Biden led the U.S.

Inaugurations are traditionally significant democratic rituals, but heads of state and government are typically not directly involved.
