The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has expressed her condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the people of Turkey following the crash of a military aircraft.
In a post on “X”, Osmani wrote:
“Our deepest condolences to President Erdogan, the Turkish Armed Forces, and the people of Turkey following the tragic crash of a military plane. Kosovo stands in solidarity with our ally Turkey during this difficult time.”
The Turkish C-130 military plane, carrying at least 20 people on board, crashed in Georgia on Tuesday after taking off from Azerbaijan.
The number of casualties and the cause of the incident were not immediately clear, according to Reuters.
Initial footage from the site near the Azerbaijan border showed twisted metal debris, with parts of the aircraft still burning and dark smoke rising into the sky.
