Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, held a meeting with Judge Hisashi Owada, former President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and currently a member of the UN International Law Commission.
The meeting took place in Pristina, where Judge Owada was recently awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Pristina for his contributions to international law and justice.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Kurti expressed appreciation for Judge Owada’s longstanding support of Kosovo’s sovereignty and independence.
Judge Owada reiterated his respect for Kosovo’s democratic institutions and stressed the importance of upholding the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion on Kosovo’s declaration of independence.
The two discussed current challenges and opportunities facing Kosovo, including the ongoing process of international recognition and the path toward European integration.
Prime Minister Kurti emphasized Kosovo’s commitment to strengthening the rule of law, democratic governance, and international cooperation.
Judge Owada also praised Kosovo’s progress and expressed hope for continued collaboration between Kosovo and the international community.
