One Arrested for “Prohibited Trade” in Prizren, Hundreds of Packs of Serbian Cigarettes Seized

Kosovo Police have arrested an individual in Prizren on suspicion of involvement in the criminal offense of “prohibited trade.” The suspect was found to be in possession of and selling various types of cigarettes and tobacco products without Kosovo Revenue Stamps (RKS banderoles) at his premises and in a warehouse in Prizren.

Police reported that today marked the start of the implementation of the “Combatting Informal Economy” Operational Plan, which focused on three locations and was supported by a search warrant issued by the Basic Court in Prizren.

Seized Items and Ongoing Operations

Assisting in this operation were units from the Regional Unit for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption (NJRHKEK) from Pristina and Gjakova, as well as the Kosovo Customs – Anti-Smuggling Unit. During the searches, the following items were found and seized:

  • 318 packs (6,365 pieces) of cigarettes without banderoles and with Serbian banderoles
  • 256 electronic cigarettes of various types without banderoles
  • 19 electronic cigarette devices without banderoles
  • 4550 grams of shisha flavors without banderoles
  • 80 pieces marked “snus” without banderoles
  • 3000 pieces of cigarette filters without banderoles

The seized evidence was taken by the Customs unit. By decision of the prosecutor, the suspect, identified as E.T. (born 1992, Kosovar male), has been ordered into 48-hour detention, and a case of “prohibited trade” has been initiated against him.
