The Kosovo Prosecutors’ Association has issued a strong public reaction regarding the developments surrounding the position of the Acting Chief State Prosecutor, emphasizing that the integrity of the prosecutorial system is non-negotiable.
In its statement, the Association underlined that the prosecutorial system’s integrity is a fundamental value that cannot be compromised not by rushed decisions, unreasoned actions, or any form of interference that risks weakening institutional functioning.
“Every movement at the highest leadership levels of the State Prosecutor must be firmly grounded in law, fully reasoned, entirely transparent, and respectful of professional standards,” the statement reads.
The Association called on the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK) to ensure a process that is lawful, clear, impartial, and free from any action that could create the perception of internal tensions or institutional fragmentation.
It also urged all actors — both inside and outside the system — to demonstrate institutional responsibility and avoid any conduct that could be interpreted as influence, pressure, or interference in internal processes.
According to the Association, the stability and independence of the Prosecutorial System are values that must be protected with care, and every decision must be taken calmly, prudently, and professionally.
They reaffirmed that they will continue closely monitoring all developments. Should any action contradict the principles of independence, legality, or integrity, they will not hesitate to react.
“The independence of the Prosecutorial System is a shared responsibility — and it must be protected without compromise,” the statement concludes.
