The Workers’ Union of Radio Television of Kosovo (SPERTK) has called on the Kosovo Assembly, political parties, decision-makers, and the RTK Board and management to urgently resolve the issue of unpaid salaries for the public broadcaster’s employees.
The union warned that if the issue is not addressed, it will be forced to organize protests to defend the rights and legally guaranteed salaries of its workers.
Currently, around 700 RTK employees’ families are left without income, facing significant financial obligations and hardships. The union highlighted the stark contrast, noting that while state institutions discuss salary increases, RTK employees have not even received their legally mandated basic salaries.
“RTK is part of the Kosovo state, and its employees are regular taxpayers of this country. Therefore, we demand immediate institutional intervention to resolve this unfair and unacceptable situation,” the union stated.
SPERTK also warned that if their demands are not met within a short period, they will initiate protests, which could escalate into a general strike, including boycotting all public events held in the country.
“This situation is intolerable and could have been prevented with responsible institutional planning,” the union added.
