Kosovo Railways unions have announced a two-day strike, effectively halting train circulation across most of the country. This action comes after what unions describe as a failure in dialogue with the employer regarding their demand for wage increases, which they state haven’t changed in 15 years.

In a press release, the unions emphasized that this “extreme measure” is being taken to pressure responsible authorities into fulfilling long-standing employee demands. “On June 12 and 13, 2025, no train will circulate within the territory of the Republic of Kosovo,” the announcement stated.

Trains are expected to resume operations on Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15. However, the Pristina–Peja line will continue to operate normally even during the strike days.

Hysen Nikçi, Chairman of the Kosovo Railway Workers’ Union, requested understanding from citizens and urged institutions to find an immediate and sustainable solution.
