The acting Government of the Republic of Kosovo has stated it is closely monitoring the tense situation between Israel and Iran with concern.
In an official communiqué released by the Prime Minister’s Office, the Republic of Kosovo calls on all involved parties to exercise restraint to avoid further escalation of the security crisis in the region.
Emphasis on Diplomacy and Nuclear Non-Proliferation
“Kosovo firmly believes that a diplomatic solution is the right path for addressing security issues, halting violence, and preventing broader regional and global consequences,” the statement reads.
The full declaration highlights that Iran has accelerated uranium enrichment to such an extent that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) declared on Thursday that Iran was not fulfilling its nuclear non-proliferation obligations. Therefore, Kosovo urges Iran to cease hybrid actions that undermine regional and wider stability and to adhere to its IAEA obligations.
Protection of Civilians and Global Stability
It is essential that civilian lives are protected under all circumstances. Kosovo calls on its citizens, especially those located in or having contacts within the region, to exercise increased caution and strictly follow the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, as well as those of local authorities where they are located.
In a world that needs stability and peace more than ever, the escalation of violence could cause not only human tragedy for the involved parties but also global security and financial instability.
Kosovo remains committed to the values of peace, democracy, and international security and expresses solidarity with all citizens affected by this situation.
