During November 2025, Kosovo’s economy continued to operate with a trade deficit, importing significantly more goods than it exported.

Data from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics show a negative trade balance of nearly €470 million.

Exports of goods in November 2025 amounted to €87.7 million, while imports reached €557.6 million. Compared to the same month last year, exports decreased by 9.5%, while imports fell slightly by 1.6%.

Exports cover only 15.7% of imports, leaving a negative trade balance of nearly 85%. Base metals constitute over 20% of exports, whereas machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment make up over 13% of imports.

More than 30% of Kosovo’s exports go to the European Union, while over 43% of imports in November originated from the 27 EU member states.

The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (OEK) expressed concern over the report, noting that it clearly reflects the challenging situation facing the local economy and domestic producers.

“If we compare the data from the first 11 months of last year with the first 11 months of this year, we see that imports are rising while exports have declined. For example, coverage is only 13%, and the trade deficit now exceeds €5 billion, which is not covered by exports,” stated Lulzim Rafuna, President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce.

Rafuna added that despite very optimistic forecasts by local institutions, the real average economic growth for the first 11 months of 2025 is around 3.4%.

According to official ASK data, inflation for November reached 5.3%.
