Kosovo has officially removed the 10 percent customs tariff on goods from the United States. All products originating from the U.S. can now be imported with a 0 percent tariff. This decision was made by the acting government at the beginning of August.
Favorable Treatment for U.S. Imports
Kosovo Customs has issued a clarification on the criteria that must be met for goods to be imported without the customs tariff. To benefit from this new policy, imports must be accompanied by:
- A valid preferential certificate of origin issued by U.S. authorities.
- A declaration of origin on the invoice, in compliance with the laws of both countries.
The decision is a unilateral measure from Kosovo aimed at facilitating trade and strengthening economic relations with the U.S.
Reimbursement Procedure for Recent Imports
For goods imported from the U.S. on or after August 1, 2025, that meet the criteria for preferential treatment but were not granted the 0 percent tariff at the time of import, a reimbursement procedure is in place. Businesses can follow this procedure to receive a refund of the customs duties paid, in accordance with current legal provisions.
Economic operators who import goods from the U.S. are advised to contact Kosovo Customs for further instructions on how to apply for the preferential treatment and the necessary documentation.
