Tirana will host the sixth summit of the European Political Community on May 16, which will take place at Skanderbeg Square with the participation of 47 leaders from across Europe. The discussions will focus on the continent’s key challenges and priorities.
The summit, co-hosted by the President of the European Council, António Costa, and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, is themed: “A New Europe in a New World: Unity – Cooperation – Joint Action.”
The leaders will engage in three main roundtable discussions:
- Securing Europe and Strengthening Democratic Resilience
- A Europe for 600 Million Citizens: Boosting Competitiveness and Security through Innovation and Sustainability
- An Open Europe with Secure Borders: Mobility Challenges and Youth Empowerment
Key topics will include support for Ukraine, European defense, safeguarding democracy, crisis response capabilities, as well as investment and innovation as drivers of competitiveness. Migration, workforce mobility, and youth development are also high on the agenda.
The EU will be represented by Ursula von der Leyen and Kaja Kallas. The summit will feature plenary sessions, thematic roundtables, and bilateral meetings.
