The Kosovo Security Force (FSK) has confirmed that one of its soldiers, who was undergoing training in the United States, has abandoned the military to stay with relatives there. The soldier was from the Gjilan Barracks.
Vëllazërim Qerimi, spokesperson for the FSK, stated in a response to Reporteri.net that the individual left without obtaining permission from the competent authorities. He further indicated that legal procedures have already been initiated against the soldier.
“The Kosovo Security Force informs you that the member in question left without obtaining permission from the competent authorities during a training in the USA,” Qerimi’s response stated. “We also inform you that the Kosovo Security Force has initiated legal procedures for the member in question in accordance with the legal and sub-legal acts in force.”
Qerimi did not respond to inquiries about whether there have been other similar cases.
This soldier was among 152 FSK members who traveled to the U.S. in May of this year to participate in one of the world’s most advanced military training programs, the “Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC).” President Vjosa Osmani, who is also the Supreme Commander of the FSK, had seen off the contingent at the airport.
“Upon arriving from the USA, I wished a good journey and success to the contingent of 152 FSK soldiers who were traveling to the USA for the JRTC training program,” Osmani had written at the time.
