A group of around 60 Serbs from Kosovo, who set off on foot toward Novi Sad on October 29 to show support for Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, were met with a barrage of insults and hostility as they passed through the town of Mrčajevci.
The group, which began its march from Rudnica, included Serbs from Graçanica, Fushë-Kosovë, Leposaviq, North Mitrovica, Zveçan, Zubin Potok, Shtërpcë, Ranillug, and Partesh.
As they entered Mrčajevci and walked along the main road, locals shouted at them and hurled verbal abuse.
“You came here to walk? Go back to Kosovo and walk there. You don’t even know where you’re going,” one man can be heard saying in a video recording of the incident, according to KosovaPress.
Participants from Kosovo said they had responded to President Vučić’s call, claiming he had invited Serbs from all regions to gather in Novi Sad for a large rally against the ongoing blockades.
However, observers note that many Kosovo Serbs remain under Vučić’s influence not out of genuine support, but due to fear and dependence on his political control — including propaganda, employment ties, and threats that limit their ability to act independently.
