Kosovo has expressed its readiness to contribute to an International Stabilization Force in Gaza, reinforcing its growing profile as a reliable partner in global peace and security initiatives amid sensitive geopolitical developments.

Through the Ministry of Defence, Kosovo confirmed its willingness to participate in the proposed multinational mission, highlighting its commitment to strengthening international stability and cooperation. The move reflects the country’s ambition to play a more active role in global security mechanisms and expand its international recognition.

Kosovo Strengthens Role in Global Security Efforts

Kosovo’s engagement comes within the framework of its participation in the Peace Board, a mechanism reportedly established under the leadership of former U.S. President Donald Trump, where Kosovo participates alongside several influential international partners.

In a written response to public broadcaster RTK, the Ministry of Defence reaffirmed Kosovo’s unwavering commitment to peace, stability, and international security, stating that the country is prepared to contribute to the International Stabilization Force (ISF) for Gaza.

Kosovo was represented in discussions about the initiative during a conference held in Doha, Qatar, in December 2025, where the Commander of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), Lieutenant General Bashkim Jashari, participated on behalf of the country.

KSF’s Professional Capacity Highlighted

The Ministry of Defence emphasized that the KSF has gained recognition for its professionalism, discipline, and specialized capabilities, including search and rescue operations, demining activities, and other military operations.

According to ministry spokesperson Liridona Gashi, Kosovo aims to make a meaningful and responsible contribution to international stabilization and long-term peacebuilding efforts.

“The Republic of Kosovo is already involved in relevant political mechanisms and decision-making bodies, including the Peace Board, with the aim of actively contributing to peaceful conflict resolution and strengthening international cooperation,” Gashi stated.

Strategic Importance for NATO Aspirations

Security analyst Arben Fetoshi from the OCTOPUS Institute described the invitation as strategically significant, arguing that it further positions Kosovo as a stability factor in the Western Balkans.

Fetoshi stressed that the KSF’s cooperation with the United States and NATO member states represents a step closer to Kosovo’s long-term goal of joining the North Atlantic Alliance.

“Given the current geopolitical tensions, Kosovo has a vital national interest in becoming part of NATO as soon as possible,” Fetoshi said.

International Mandate for Gaza Stabilization

The creation of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) was authorized through United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, adopted on November 17, 2025. Kosovo’s participation in preparatory discussions followed an invitation from the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) on December 10, 2025, which was subsequently approved by Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti one day later.

Kosovo’s potential involvement in the Gaza mission underscores its increasing engagement in global peacekeeping operations and its broader effort to strengthen international partnerships and security cooperation.
